Recchi bobble-headed out?

Mark Recchi 500 Goal bobblehead night is next Monday against the Phoenix Coyotes. Will he be dressed, or will he even still be on the team? Trade rumors have been swirling around The Wrecking Ball since he's been a healthy scratch for the last few games.

It adds a wrinkle for the promotions department, too. They have been down that road before with Alexei Kovalev. Kovy was traded to the Montreal Canadiens on February 10, 2003 and the Kovalev bobblehead promotion was March 6, 2003.

Just like the Titanic

Yep, the Pens are like the Titanic - stuck at the bottom of the Atlantic. Just last week before the Flyers' game, the Pens were one point out of first. Instead, they are stuck in the mud with 15 points and last place. Time to "RIGHT" the ship. The Pens have recalled that much-talked about, right-handed defenseman Kris Letang.

Ronny Franchise

Congratulations to Ron Francis on his enshrinement to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Francis was a key member of "The Trade," coming to Pittsburgh with Grant Jennings and Ulf Samuelsson in 1991t o help turn the Pens into champions. Two words sum up his career and life: "Captain Class."

Arbor's day

Very nice tribute by New York Islanders to allow Al Arbour an opportunity to coach his 1,500 game. Arbour's milestone game was also a memorable one for Penguins rookie Tyler Kennedy when he scored his first NHL goal. He didn't get instant credit – and the game didn't stop directly, either. The rookie earned the goal with an assist from of the video replay official. Milestone buffs agonized for 1:51 while "play" continued. What would have happened had the Isles came back down the ice and deflected the puck out of bounds? Would his historical goal puck been lost for good? Would the Pens PR staff have had to to find the fan the ended up with the first goal puck and then offer something like a Crosby stick in trade?

Coffey, with sugar

Former Pens defenseman Paul Coffey will be inducted into the Penguins Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 15 at Mellon Arena. Coffey helped the Penguins learn how to be champions when he arrived here in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers. The scary part? The induction will fall nine days short of the 20th anniversary when the Pens obtained Paul Coffey, Dave Hunter and Wayne Van Dorp from Edmonton for Craig Simpson, Moe Mantha, Dave Hannan and Chris Joseph.

Simpson, was starting his third season with Pittsburgh when the trade was made. What current young guy will get traded for veteran leadership? Or, maybe it already happened with the Noah Welch / Gary Roberts trade last year?

Frank Sciulli, who worked with the Pittsburgh Hornets from 1964-67 and the Penguins from 1967 until last year, also will be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Can't wait to see that Hall of Fame in the new Mellon - BONY Arena.
