Mt. Lebanon's Matt Bartkowski has become the 14th native son to crack an NHL lineup.

He joined the Boston Bruins tonight and made his debut at the CONSOL Energy Center.

It's a 'Burgh thing

Upper St. Clair's Dylan Reese has become the 13th native son to crack an NHL lineup.

Reese joined the New York Islanders on March 1 in a trade with Columbus, and dressed for the Isles tonight (March 4th). Check out the growing list of other locals in the NHL.

What's really cool, is the fact that Reese could potentially play in the Mellon Arena's regular season finale when the Islanders visit on April 8th.

Alexander Pechurski, one-game wonder

The Penguins signed Alexander Pechurski to a one-game tryout. He was brought in to backup John Curry, who was backing-up Brent Johnson, who of course is the back up to Marc-Andre Fleury.

Curry gave up five goals on 14 shots and the 19-year-old Pechurski was sent in to finish the game.

SITE UPDATE: Penalty shot database added

Today is the anniversary of the first successful penalty shot at the Civic Arena, scored by Mario Lemieux in his famous "five goals, every way possible" game.

Decided to check into the Penguins penalty shot history and came up with a list that amplifies the "official team record."
